Clunker/ Junker Laws.

To those of you that think that a car in any condition over the age of 10 years old is not
worthy for the American Roadways…You are simply Clueless!
The tree huggers and the liberals work to no end, trying to fit us all in their cookie cutter
mold. But as for me and a million and a half or so of other people just cant fit that pattern.

It’s not hard to see the number of classic, muscle and restored cars are not as dangerous as
some would want you to believe. Simply look at insurance rates of muscle cars, show cars,
and antique collectables.
The insurance rates on collectable transportation is very inexpensive, and that tells you one
thing, that the risks are not near as high, despite the babblings of the nay Sayers.

Most of these cars are weekend cruisers, and for the most part seldom are driven over 5000
miles a year, that’s about 1/3 of the national average.
Every car collector that I know, and know of, have cars that are in tip top shape as far as the
mechanical condition is concerned.

The vast majority of us, spend excessive time and money to bring these classics back on the
road, and more often than not these vehicles are far better than they were originally, and
much healthier that many of the inferior foreign and domestic cars that they pass on the
roadways every day.

I know that I have restored several vehicles in my lifetime and the last thing that I want to do
is to place a vehicle on the highway that would run the risk of injury to anything or anyone,
especially the hard work and hours that I have put into it.

You keep your hobby, and Ill keep mine. You go put on goofy shoes and spend your money
on golf carts and expensive clubs, and drive your electric cart till your heart gets merry. Just
leave me and my grease stained jeans and my rumbling Big Block alone.

After all its therapeutic for some of us to hear the mellow sounds of high compression
flowing through aluminum heads and filling the air with the sweet sound from our
Flowmasters. Not to mention the lovely smell of fresh burned rubber, and our in your face
attitude.

I had rather drive my 70 Chevelle SS than any Hummer, Beamer, or Mercedes Benz, that I
have ever seen.  And if you can’t appreciate my ride, then well the feeling is mutual. You can
just stay on your side of the tracks.
