1967 - 1972
Chevrolet Truck
Identification
Helpful Information

How to Identify the year model by annual changes. The 1967 - 1972 Chevrolet
Trucks are my personal favorites, I have had several of these truck in each year
series. After many hours of working on these trucks and exchanging parts I have
learned that by simply looking at the body it is possible to tell what year it was
manufactured.
The first 2 years, 1967, and 1968 are almost Identical, however there are some
changes that are key. 67 was the only year that this series did not have side
marker lights. The 68 and up did. It should also be noted that the 67 was the only
year in this series where you will find the "small back window" the full back
window became standard from 68 up. The hood and fenders are completly
interchangable on the 67 and 68 models. (The entire front cap from any year in
this series is interchangable). For a while the 72 was the truck to have, and
looking around you are sure to find some 67's and 68's with 72 front caps.
On 67 and 68 The Letters " C H E V R O L E T " run across the hood, that was
changed to a bow tie from 69 to 72.

It is my opinion that the 67 and 68 are the coolest and best looking trucks to
convert into a street rod, they are easily transformed into a sporty fast looking
truck.

In 67 and 68 the parking brake was hand operated, that was changed in 69.

In 1969 The front cap was changed, the hood took on a more veritcle face and
the bow tie sat in the center. The name plate, "CHEVROLET" was imbossed into
the aluminum grill across the center bar. the two spoke steering wheel took the
place of the three spoke.

In 1970 the only difference was the grill back ground the 70 had 12 sets of
horisontal fins

In 1971 a New Grill was introduced known as the "egg crate grill"

In 1972 The rear view mirror was no longer mounted by screws to the cab, but
rather was glued on to the windshield, and the doors had the "extra screw" in the
door just below the vent window column.

The Chassis

From 1967- 1970 All Trucks were fitted with 6 lug wheels, that was changed in
1971 and 72 to  5 Lug Wheels and front disc brakes. (NOTE) The disc brake
spindles will interchange during this series, I have done it several times.

1967  Models available, Custom, Deluxe and CST.
1969 The Blazer was available.

1971 The Cheyenne took the place of the CST.
